Offshore investment manager Neuberger Berman Asia has added to its Australian institutional sales team with the appointment of Lucas Rooney as a senior vice president.
Rooney began working in the role this month alongside industry veteran Paul O'Halloran who has been with Neuberger Berman in Australia since 2007.
Both are based in the firm's Melbourne office and are responsible for the development of the firm's institutional client base in Australia and New Zealand.
Rooney brings more than 25 years' experience in the Australian investment management industry to his new position, with previous roles at Mercer, BT and Colonial First State.
"Lucas is a great addition to the team and the fact that he and Paul have known each other for many years will mean a winning partnership for Neuberger Berman in Australia. This appointment signals our strong intentions to be a premier institutional player in the Australasian market," Neuberger Berman's head of Asia-Pacific ex Japan Tony Edwards said.
"Our focus for the Australasian institutional investor market will range across the firm's recognised strengths in global and emerging markets equities, fixed income and alternatives, including private equity, hedge fund of funds and quantitative strategies."
