Genesys Wealth Advisers has added a fund from newcomer Patriot Asset Management to its approved product list.

The Patriot Australian Share Fund, an absolute return fund, can now be accessed by the company's 400 financial planners nationwide.

"We like the manager. We like its style. We're happy to add it to our approved product list for our advisers to use," Genesys Wealth head of investments Dinyar Irani said.

Boutique funds manager Patriot is a subsidiary of Fisher Graham Group (FGG). FGG has a distribution company, Fisher Graham Financial (FGF), which issues the funds of boutique fund managers, which include Patriot and individually managed account provider Pilgrim Private.

Melbourne-based Patriot is a new company that gained its Australian financial services licence in May 2005. It has a second absolute fund, the Patriot Small Companies Fund.

"It's a major breakthrough which vindicates all our hard work. We've spoken to dealer groups and got a lot of traction, but this will really help. It's a big win. The marketplace is realising who we are," FGF managing director Peter Purpura said.

Patriot's chairman is Victor Cottren. Patriot co-founders Nick Greenway and Stephen Sedgman are managing director and director, respectively.

Cottren is also chairman of Pilgrim Private and has more than 40 years' industry experience. Greenway is a director of Pilgrim Private, where he works as an analyst and portfolio manager. Sedgman is managing director of Pilgrim Private and manages several funds. He has more than 35 years' experience.
