In partnership, the organisations have launched a board governance benchmarking service to ensure best practice in the strategic oversight and governance of funds.
As a condition of the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA) licensing, super funds must be able to prove on an ongoing basis that they meet licensing standards.
"The service is a way of providing independent review and assessment to super funds and allows them to benchmark themselves against their peers on governance issues," ASFA chief executive officer Philippa Smith said.
The service will maintain the confidentiality of individual fund information, but will help identify areas where ASFA can provide further support through training and best practice papers.
