Adviser network strikes deal with credit union to provide planning advice to members

Consultum Financial Advisers has struck a deal to provide planning to Austral Credit Union clients - the first of its kind for the burgeoning dealership.

Austral Financial Planning will be a corporate authorised representative of Consultum Financial Advisers, a member of the IOOF Group.

Nominated Consultum financial planners in New South Wales, Victoria and Western Australia will service a potential client base of 15,000 Austral members.

"This presents a great opportunity for Austral members to access quality financial advice from qualified professionals, regardless of where they're located around Australia," Consultum head Stuart Abley said.

"For us it's just having access to quality clients from a quality organisation. Consultum associates itself with various accounting firms and other centres of influence; this is an example of how we can bring added benefits to our adviser network."

Austral chief executive officer David Edwards said the advisers would help members navigate the legislative changes in tax, superannuation and investments.

"We're pleased to be forming an alliance with the IOOF Group to offer this service," Edwards said.

Consultum was formed in October last year following the joining of Winchcombe Carson and Financial Partnership. It has 110 advisers across Australia and $2.5 billion in funds under advice.
