AFS draws in new practices; Australian Unity boosts numbers

Growth and independence have been successful drawcards for adviser-owned dealer group Australian Financial Services Group.

Growth and independence have been successful drawcards for adviser-owned dealer group Australian Financial Services Group (AFS).

The dealership signed 21 practices last year and has already attracted five new firms in 2007.

Financial Planning Choices in Cheltenham, Victoria, was formerly licensed by Financial Lifestyle Solutions. Its principal is Cameron Smith.

Melbourne practice Vino Financial Freedom, run by Vino Grundy, has signed to AFS. It was previously licensed by Guardian Financial Planning. Silvio Bordignon Financial Services principal Silvio Bordignon has signed with AFS. The Victorian practice was formerly with Apogee Financial Planning.

Indooroopilly Money Management, in Brisbane, run by principals Sue McGreachan and Geoff Orr, has moved from Infocus Securities Australia. Fusion Financial Solutions (Sydney) was previously licensed by Professional Investment Services. It is based in Penrith, Sydney. Its principal is Reg Moodley.

AFS chief executive officer Peter Daly said the average AFS practice grew by 42 per cent last year, compared to the industry average of about 20 per cent.
