Top planners win accolades

After $15 billion FUM blow out, PIS chief tells planners to expect another top year.

Australia's premier dealer group Professional Investment Services (PIS) has honoured its top performing advisers.

According to the latest IFA Dealer Group Survey, PIS is the nation's largest licensee with 1379 advisers 1046 practices across the country.

Its annual conference in Sabah, Malaysia, attracted a more than 1000 representatives from global operations in New Zealand, Singapore, Canada, Hong Kong, China and Malaysia.

After funds under management topped $15 billion, PIS chief executive officer Robbie Bennetts told delegates to expect another bumper year with record inflows.

Brad McGuirk of Piccadilly Financial Group, Sydney, was crowned PIS financial planner of the year, with Tim Swift, of Focus Financial Group, Victoria, as runner up.

PIS Logan City adviser Troy Edmondson was named risk adviser of the year. Edmondson previously clinched the Association of Financial Advisers (AFA) Adviser of the Year Award 2006.

In other awards: David Hare from Your Risk Protection Specialists, Queensland, was awarded the top producing risk adviser mantel; Andrew Wright of Strategic Superannuation Services, Queensland, was named top producing financial planner; Barnes Dowell James, North Sydney, was tipped as top accounting practice.

Robert Calkhoven from Horan Clift Calkhoven, NSW picked up a prize for professional standards of the year and Nick Girdler of PCG Financial Services, South Australia, was crowned most determined achiever. 

After the conference 60 top-earning members of the PIS Platinum Club travelled to New York.
