Aspect Partners will relinquish its licence to join boutique dealership Fitzpatricks Australia.

Sydney-based Aspect Partners executive director and founder David Carney and executive director Sam Hallinan have reshaped, refocused and relocated.

The traditional planning firm has been transformed into a consultancy-style practice that works with small business owners. It has three authorised representatives, 101 clients and about $80 million in funds under advice.

"I've had quite a lot of changes that have occurred in my life and I guess that really made me look at the business. It had been running along very successfully, but I found I was extremely time poor," Carney said.

To discover how to maximise his time, he undertook a transition plan and completed Jim Stackpool's Cultivating Advice Course.

Fitzpatricks Australia founder and managing director Scott Fitzpatrick said: "People join us for either connection or direction to the high net wealth market."

The boutique licence will share its intellectual property of hard skills, soft skills, how to build relationships and generating referrals.

"I think we were both surprised by how closely aligned we were in the way we look after clients and our similar methodology," Fitzpatrick said.

"Our model has clearly progressed further than his, so it was up to him whether he wanted to reinvent the wheel or join us."

Fitzpatricks has 15 offices, 30 advisers, $750 million in funds under advice and $600 million in funds under management.
