Financial planner Chris Browne has scored the Association of Financial Advisers (AFA) Rising Star of the Year Award 2007.
The 29-year-old principal of Financial Design For Life in Victoria likened it to winning an AFL Brownlow Medal.
"This is recognition that I'm on the right path, that's a huge thing for me," Browne told InvestorDaily at the AFA national conference on the Gold Coast.
Browne's practice has doubled in size over the past 12 months. Before buying the business two-and-a-half years ago he was a practice development manager at financial services group MLC .
Award finalists were judged on their educational achievements, practice management skills and contributions to the community.
"They are examples of fresh, enthusiastic and dedicated advisers who haven't wasted a moment of their time in making themselves stand out from the rest," AFA chief executive officer Richard Klipin said.
"It is clear the future of the industry and the association is in safe hands."
Browne was nominated by ING business development manager Russell Hannah.
Browne's business specialises on providing wealth protection and wealth creation to the under 40s.
"With succession planning being one of the major issues in the industry, its timely that we are playing a part to recognise individuals for their successes and also encourage excellence and recognise them as future leaders of our industry," ING head of life risk and marketing Mark Vilo said.
