Australia's sixth largest advisory group Millennium3 pumps up its protection book.

ING-owned dealer group Millennium3 has laid plans to drive life insurance sales across its adviser network.

The Brisbane-based licensee has also appointed Marcus O'Sullivan to the newly created job of life risk national manager.

"This is a key role for Millennium3. With nearly 70 per cent of Australians underinsured it is essential for financial advisory firms to increase client awareness of the value of adequate risk insurance. And it also makes good business sense," Millennium3 joint managing director Barry Martin.

Millennium3 is the sixth-largest dealer group in terms of advisers, according to the IFA Dealer Group Survey.

It has 517 planners in 248 practices with $4.2 billion in funds under advice.

O'Sullivan will liaise with life office underwriting and claims management specialists to maximise advisers' client-facing time.

O'Sullivan was formerly Suncorp wealth insurance services manager.

He has more than 15 years' experience as a risk manager and underwriter.
