Top advisers will shortly be offered a CFP equivalent by the AFA.

The nation's premier financial advisers are a step closer to being able to obtain a post-nominal designation from the Association of Financial Advisers (AFA).

A joint venture partner to deliver its Fellow Chartered Financial Practitioner designation - an alternative to the FPA-endorsed Certified Financial Planner qualification - will be announced shortly.

Formal qualifications, peer-to-peer learning, industry experience and sales skills are rolled into the course, AFA chief executive Richard Klipin told InvestorDaily.

The first students will enrol on July 1.

Young advisers are the focus of the inaugural AFA GenXt Kickstart Roadshow 2008 in Brisbane on February 5, Sydney on February 6 and Melbourne on February 7.

Industry peers will discuss central issues facing the next generation of planners including succession planning, buying into practices, client engagement and advice skills.

Expanding its nationwide footprint, the AFA has opened regional chapters in the Darling Downs, Southern Queensland and Queensland's Sunshine Coast, bringing its total to 15.
