Listed insurance giant Tower has lost a key executive to competitor Asteron.

Tower Australia head of retail sales Jordan Hawke has quit after five years to join rival life office Asteron.

Hawke's departure was announced internally a week ago by Tower Australia managing director Jim Minto.

Hawke was appointed to the role at Tower Australia in April 2003. He was formerly with MLC as national manager of wealth protection.

Tower Australia national alliance manager Pat O'Connor is acting head of retail sales until a permanent replacement is found.

Hawke was part of the Tower Australia team that drove net profit after tax up by 29 per cent to $40.7 million for the 12 months to September 30, 2007, compared to the corresponding period.

Asteron declined to comment on Hawke's appointment before InvestorDaily went to press.
