Suncorp-owned Guardian Financial Planning has re-hired an ex-Storm life risk adviser.

Guardian Financial Planning (Guardian), the dealer group owned by insurer Suncorp, has re-hired an ex-Storm life risk adviser.

"The adviser had worked with Guardian for some years before he sold his practice to Storm in late 2007 to fulfil his succession planning objectives," a Suncorp spokesperson said.

"He had a very long history with Guardian and his focus is, and has been, on life risk advice as opposed to more general investment advice.

"In recognition of his track record and the quality of his advice, we were happy to welcome him back as a life risk adviser."

The adviser did not wish to be named but has been in the industry for the best part of 25 years. Guardian has 140 advisers in total.

Infocus Money Management hired five ex-Storm financial advisers, it was reported last week.

A number of former Storm planners have sought jobs in Townsville, with ABN AMRO Morgans Townsville rejecting one adviser and two administration staff from the failed advisory business.

Several former Storm advisers have approached AMP Financial Planning about opportunities in Queensland, but AMP believes it would be inappropriate to consider offering them any roles, an AMP spokesperson said.

Administrators and receivers were appointed to Storm last month and all 115 staff were dismissed.
