Online broker Bell Direct has launched Desktop Broker, a direct equities solution engineered exclusively for the financial planning industry.

Desktop Broker's technology and systems included features specifically designed to support financial planners and advisers could enjoy cost savings and benefit from a fast, efficient and reliable investment platform, Bell Direct said.

The platform allows planners to buy and sell equities for clients at competitive brokerage rates and with no complicated pricing plans.

Desktop Broker's other features include an adviser order pad, which makes it easy to place group orders, brokerage tools that help planners set up their own differential pricing structures, live market data, news and company announcements and an intelligent interface delivering information contextually.

Where other platforms relied on third-party providers, with up to three different systems patched together, Desktop Broker takes responsibility for the end-to-end trading process, meaning no trading outages, Bell Direct said.

"Desktop Broker has been designed by people who knows what it's like to run an advisory business, so we've been able to build a platform that gives financial planners what their business needs - strong cash flow, a flexible pricing structure and a clear and predictable income stream," Bell Direct chief executive Arnie Selvarajah said.

The solution's online portfolio tools slash paperwork and enable financial planners to view client holdings and orders in real time and then generate customised, up-to-the minute reports in the format of their choice.

Desktop Broker can also help planners export data to their preferred client management system.
