Principal's integration of roles in its global locations has resulted in the departure of Alex Francois.

Principal Global Investors (PGI) has integrated the roles of head of sales and marketing and chief executive in its global locations.

As a result of the move, head of sales and marketing Alex Francois has left PGI Australia.

Chief executive Grant Forster said in all of PGI's global locations where it has a country head, that country head is also responsible for sales and marketing and PGI has simply brought its structure in Australia in line with the rest of those locations.

"He (Francois) has done a great job in building our presence here in the Australian marketplace over that time," Forster said.

Two other positions were also made redundant, including a marketing support role and a the role of a credit analyst covering Asian credit securities.

"We're very much focused on building the newer funds that we've added, including global emerging markets, global growth equities and global REITs (real estate investment trusts)," Forster said.

"We're committed to our existing products as well, but certainly the new products are very much a part of our marketing strategy."

The group is also working to boost its presence on platforms.

"We're on a number of platforms across the market so we remain very committed to that market and have been working with new and significant platforms," Forster said.
