Barclays Global Investors (BGI) has appointed Will Britten as chief executive of its Australian business, effective March 30.
Britten succeeds Morry Waked, who took on the role of global head and chief investment officer for BGI's global active equity business earlier this year.
Britten joined BGI Australia in 1997, and following a three-year period in BGI's US office, returned to Australia in 2004 to become head of distribution for the business.
He played a leadership role in building both the institutional and intermediary distribution channels to grow the BGI Australia business during the period, a BGI statement said.
Britten has been a managing director at BGI for over four years and a member of BGI Australia's senior executive team, responsible for the overall management and direction of the Australian business since 2004.
Katherine Allchin will succeed Britten as head of distribution for BGI Australia.
