A head of Commonwealth Financial Planning's aligned dealer groups has been appointed.

Colonial First State (CFS) has realigned its retail business development division as the division's former head Kylie Macfarlane begins heading up two of the group's aligned financial planning businesses.

As part of the changes, the position of CFS head of platform sales will continue to be headed by Aubrey Roga, but all platform business development managers (BDM) will now report to him.

In addition, the new role of head of Commonwealth Financial Planning sales has been created and will be led by Sarah Anderson, who was formerly a strategic account manager with the group.

Another role, CFS head of investment sales, is in the process of being filled.

"The new structure will enable greater focus and specialisation in the areas of platform sales, investment sales, and will support Commonwealth Financial Planning," CFS general manager of distribution Paul Barrett told InvestorDaily.

Macfarlane was appointed to head up Whittaker Macnaught and St Andrew's Financial Planning on 7 April.

She will oversee the strategic development, operational management and long-term growth prospects for the two businesses, Barrett said.

CFS acquired Whittaker Macnaught and St Andrew's as part of Commonwealth Bank's $2.1 billion acquisition of BankWest in December 2008.

Paul Northey, who headed up the two businesses before Macfarlane, will be in a consultancy role during the acquisition process.
