BTIG Australia has boosted its Australian presence by hiring four senior staff from Macquarie, UBS and Citi.

Agency-only institutional broker BTIG Australia said it has expanded its Australian presence with four senior hires.

BTIG said the hires, including former Macquarie Securities division director Darin Lester and UBS Investment Bank Australia's former director of Australian equity sales trading David McConnell, will be based in Sydney.

Former Citigroup Global Markets vice president of sales and capital introduction Trevor Harrison will also be based in Sydney, while former ITG Australia senior sales trader Dustin Westblade will provide BTIG Australia with coverage and representation in Melbourne.

Lester, McConnell, Westblade and Harrison were brought on to further build out BTIG's Australian business and to expand its presence in the broader Asian region, the company said.

"Our business model, which we believe is relatively new to Australia, has positioned us well for growth and has allowed us to take advantage of market opportunities," BTIG LLC's international effort head Kevin Chessen said.

"The new hires in Australia complement our recent expansions in Singapore and Hong Kong and further position us to be a dominant player in the region."

BTIG Australia is affiliated with BTIG LLC, a premier institutional brokerage and fund services company.

BTIG's Australian team is led by chief executive officer Paul Brech.
