Perpetual hires van Eyk's former research head

Perpetual has lured two well-known researchers to provide investment and portfolio recommendations to private wealth advisers and their clients.

Van Eyk Research's former head of research Nigel Douglas has taken up a job within wealth manager Perpetual's high net worth advice division.

Douglas was appointed as Perpetual Private Wealth's senior manager of investment research and has responsibility for all managed fund and asset class research.

He has over 25 years' investment market experience and was with van Eyk Research for nine years.

Douglas became van Eyk Research's head of research after founding director Stephen van Eyk departed in August 2009.

Perpetual Private Wealth also confirmed it has hired former Queensland Investment Corporation senior research analyst Stephen Kench as senior manager of direct equities.

"The appointment of these two highly-credentialed and well-regarded experts allows us to further enhance our investment offering," Perpetual Private Wealth's general manager of investment and strategic advice Angus Benbow said.

"Both Nigel and Stephen will be responsible for providing investment and portfolio recommendations to our private wealth advisers and their clients.

"These appointments are a further demonstration of Perpetual Private Wealth's commitment to providing best-in-class holistic wealth management service for our clients."

Perpetual Private Wealth had around $8.1 billion in funds under advice as at 31 December 2009.
