Magellan Financial Group has further expanded its team of business development managers (BDM) after its funds under management recently surpassed $1 billion.
The fund manager has hired Mark Burgess as a key account manager to be based in Sydney.
He was previously at Zurich Financial Services in the same role and has over 15 years of industry experience, having also worked at Challenger and BT Financial Group.
Burgess starts at the end of the month.
"Mark's appointment is an extra resource in the New South Wales team," Magellan head of distribution Frank Casarotti said.
"[The appointment] will ensure that Magellan is able to more efficiently cover regional advisers and increase the level of metro-based advisers and dealer group contact, given Magellan's strong representation on key platforms and dealer group menus."
Burgess's appointment follows Magellan's announcement that it would open a new representative office in Brisbane this month.
The office's first hire is Rob Martin, whose role is key account manager for Queensland.
Prior to his new job, Martin spent 10 years at Colonial First State (CFS), where he held several senior roles and was responsible for promoting CFS's internal and alliance investment products.
Damian Craven was also recently recruited to Magellan's Melbourne office as a key account manager.
Craven has 15 years of financial services experience and joins from Macquarie Group.
