Blue Sky Private Equity has opened its EC2010 Fund for a final round of fundraising following a first close at $25 million at the end of last year.

The fund helps Australian small to medium-sized enterprises grow by providing them with capital to expand and management expertise in return for stakes of up to 50 per cent. "We have a good mix of operational, strategic, financial and legal experience and provide a lot of support to our investee companies to make sure they succeed and generate strong returns for us and our investors," Blue Sky Private Equity managing director Tim Wilson said.

Blue Sky is in talks to buy stakes in five more business. Lenard's Chicken and Viking Rentals are the EC2010 Fund's cornerstone investments.
