State Street Global Advisors (SSgA) has appointed Olivia Engel as its new active Australian equities head, replacing Anthony Golowenko.
Engel joins SSgA from GMO Australia where she spent eight years, most recently as a senior portfolio manager responsible for the management of all Australian equity portfolios.
"Olivia will lead our efforts in Australia to continuously evolve our models to ensure the greatest level of flexibility to respond to various macroeconomic and investment environments," SSgA's head of active developed market equities Marc Reinganum said.
"Her appointment reinforces SSgA's commitment to active quantitative investing in the Australian market."
In her role Engel will work with SSgA's advanced research center and portfolio management teams.
Golowenko, who has been with SSgA since 1997, will move to a newly-created role of senior product engineer after more than eight years in the active Australian equity team.
In his former role, Golowenko had responsibility for launching SSgA's suite of active Australian equity long-short strategies, and more recently, the Australian Alpha Max Equity Total Return Trust.
