Suncorp Group announced it has appointed Gary Dransfield as chief executive of its Vero insurance business in New Zealand.
Dransfield will take over the reigns from current Vero New Zealand chief executive Roger Bell after a transition and handover period.
In his most recent role as executive general manager of retail distribution for Suncorp's personal insurance business, Dransfield had responsibility for driving sales and distribution channel management for brands including AAMI, GIO and APIA.
He has 25 years of financial services experience in insurance and retail banking and has worked at Insurance Australia Group, AMP and St George Bank in the past.
"Gary's experience will enable him to provide strong leadership through this important period and I expect he will lead the New Zealand general insurance business from strength to strength," Suncorp chief executive Patrick Snowball said.
"Vero New Zealand faces a unique set of challenges as it contributes to one of the largest rebuilding tasks ever seen in our region, while at the same time maintaining business momentum."
Snowball said Vero New Zealand had delivered solid returns under Bell's leadership over the past eight years.
