BlackRock Investment Management Australia has appointed Evan Jones as senior portfolio manager for one of its flagship global hedge funds.
He will help manage the BlackRock Asset Allocation Alpha Fund and report to lead portfolio manager David Hudson. Geoff Ryan will continue to help manage the fund.
Jones has 17 years' financial markets experience and has mainly worked in proprietary trading roles for institutions, including Royal Bank of Canada, Societe Generale and most recently as senior proprietary trader for National Australia Bank.
"I am thrilled that Evan has joined our team at BlackRock," Hudson said.
"I have great respect for Evan's fundamental approach to investing and believe his experience trading in foreign exchange and fixed income markets will be a tremendous value-add to the Asset Allocation Alpha Fund.
"Evan's risk management philosophy is aligned with how our team approaches risk and his short-term investment approach to trading will complement and diversify the team's current medium-term investment approach."
The BlackRock Asset Allocation Alpha Fund implements tactical asset allocation strategies and has nearly $400 million under management.
