CBA has appointed Annabel Spring as its new head of wealth management.

Commonwealth Bank of Australia (CBA) has restructured its executive team as Ian Narev prepares to lead the bank.

Current group head of strategy Annabel Spring has been appointed as group executive of wealth management.

Spring joined CBA two and a half years ago from Morgan Stanley where she was head of firm strategy and execution and previously held roles in banking and markets.

Grahame Petersen, who has led CBA's wealth management businesses since 2006, has been made group executive for business and private banking.

Robert Jesudason will replace Spring as group head of strategy.

Jesudason joins CBA from Credit Suisse where his most recent role has been managing director and head of global emerging markets within the Financial Institutions Group based in Hong Kong.

The appointments were made in anticipation of Narev commencing in his role of chief executive designate from 1 October.

He will take over from current chief executive Ralph Norris from December.

Narev has been with CBA since May 2007 and has held the role of group executive for business and private banking since January 2009.
