The Zurich Investments Global Property Securities Fund, Invesco Global Property Securities Fund and Resolution Capital Global Property Securities Fund all received the highest ranking.
"The disastrous year for domestic LPTs (listed property trusts) in 2008 has been both a catalyst for investors acknowledging the lack of depth and diversification in the Australian market and also for fund managers to reduce their emphasis on domestic offerings in line with their decreasing funds under management and subsequent profitability," Zenith senior investment analyst Ben Davis said.
"Ultimately, this change in the opportunity set in this sector provides the potential for investors to reshape their property allocations."
Although Australian property funds had attractive characteristics, Davis said he did not believe 100 per cent domestic exposure was the optimal approach in the sector.
