Fortis Investment Management Australia has launched a retail version of its Australian Long Short Australian Equity Fund.

The fund aims to outperform the S&P/ASX200 Accumulation Index by 5-7 per cent over a rolling three to five-year period.

The investment objective is to use fundamental research to invest in both long and short positions in Australian equities, with the long exposures not exceeding 140 per cent of the value of the fund, while the short exposures will not exceed 40 per cent of the fund.

The tracking error will be in the range of 6-10 per cent.

The fund has a minimum investment amount of $20,000.

Although Fortis has already been operating a wholesale version of the long-short fund for more than four years, this fund has not been listed on any platforms.

The launch of the retail fund has made this strategy available to retail investors for the first time.
