The Self-Managed Super Fund Professionals' Association of Australia (SPAA) has made two new appointments.
Macquarie Bank executive director David Shirlow will join the SPAA board as a director, while part-time technical director Peter Burgess will now move into a full-time job with the association.
At Macquarie Bank, Shirlow is responsible for technical input into government relations and product development. He has also worked as a specialist superannuation lawyer.
Burgess has worked part-time for SPAA for eight months. He has worked in the superannuation industry for 20 years.
His most recent previous job was with independent financial planning group Kingston Capital as general manager of superannuation services.
"Our members turn to us for educational support and to set the benchmark for professional standards, so the appointment of these high-calibre experts will certainly add value," SPAA chief executive Andrea Slattery said.
