Investment firm AMP Capital Investors has hired Adam Kirkman as head of its environment, social and governance (ESG) business.
Kirkman will oversee the firm's implementation of ESG factors in its investment processes.
The application of the ESG principles will apply to all asset classes, including listed equities, infrastructure, fixed interest and credit.
Kirkman previously worked at consulting firm Proviti as global director of sustainability and climate change. He has also worked at Ernst & Young, where he led the environment and sustainability practice.
"ESG considerations are embedded in our policies and guidelines and in 2007 we signed up to the UNPRI (United Nations Principles for Responsible Investment)," AMP Capital director Sharon Davis said.
"ESG issues have financial implications and can affect the performance and reputation of investment portfolios, so we are taking a firm position on how we meet and lead on these matters."
