Financial services tipped to be a big employer in 2011.

The financial services sector will provide a wide range of job opportunities in 2011, according to online employment specialists eFinancialCareers.com.au.

Roles most sought after by employers will include fund managers, risk management and compliance specialists, and staff for mergers and acquisitions.

"Demand for these positions is underpinned by many factors, including macro economic trends leading to strong demand for resources bankers; regulatory pressures creating demand for risk managers; and increases in trading volumes resulting in more professionals needed in product control," eFinancialCareers Head of Asia Pacific George McFerran said.

It is predicted most movement among financial services professionals will occur in the first quarter of 2011.

It is also anticipated employers will have a larger talent pool to select from when they go to the market to hire new people. However eFinancialCareers warns the skill set may not be what is required and firms may be forced to look overseas.

In regard to specific positions eFinancialCareers feels fund mangers who can immediately generate revenue will be in high demand. In particular those people with multi-asset experience will be well placed.

In addition risk management and compliance jobs will be prevalent among the banks this year. This will be in response to the numerous regulatory changes facing the sector.

It is also predicted to be a good time for equity research analysts. The driving forces behind this activity will be the desire to improve and consolidate research facilities covering the resources, insurance and banking sectors.
