IOOF has appointed Geoff Kellett to fill the head of sales position vacated by the departure of Alexandra Tullio earlier this year.
In his new role Kellett's main focus will be on strengthening IOOF's relationships with the independent financial advisers practising in the market through the development and execution of sales strategies for the organisation's variety of product offerings.
"Geoff has developed extensive relationships in the IFA space and has a strong sense of empathy for advisers and the challenges they face. I am confident that he will add to our presence in the IFA space and in driving our organic growth strategy," IOOF general manager distribution Renato Mota said.
IOOF assessed around 35 candidates during the recruitment process that included both internal and external applicants for the role.
Kellett joins IOOF with solid industry experience behind him having most recently been director and head of sales for Macquarie Specialist Investments. He was also a private client adviser with ANZ Private Bank.
However Mota cited the reason for Kellett's appointment was as much about cultural compatibility as it was experience.
"What became very clear when interviewing Geoff was he has very strong commercial skills and importantly he also understands the value of people. What came across was his ability and his track record in managing a large number of people to become high performers and that was really attractive to us," Mota said.
Kellett started in the role yesterday that sees him reporting directly to Mota.
