Macquarie Bank has named Jay O'Neil as the new head of Macquarie Private Bank. O'Neil joins the banking and financial services group from global financial services firm Merrill Lynch, where he was managing director.

In his new role, he will head Macquarie Private Bank's Australian operations, leading its team of private bankers based in Sydney and Melbourne.

"Jay's extensive experience working in leading global banking organisations will bring significant additional expertise into our business to help shape and grow Macquarie Private Bank into the future. We are delighted to have Jay joining the business," Macquarie Private Wealth head Eric Schimpf said.

Commenting on his new job, O'Neil said he was looking forward to joining Macquarie.

"The reputation and comprehensive service offering provided by Macquarie Private Bank, along with the expertise of its private bankers and their focus on client support, were all instrumental in my decision to join the business," he said.
