Luke Symons has been named head of ANZ Financial Planning.

ANZ executive Luke Symons has been promoted to head of ANZ Financial Planning.

Symons replaces ANZ Financial Planning head Ashley Stewart and general manager ANZ Advice and Distribution Alan Logan.

Logan left the wealth manager a number of months ago while it is believed Stewart is still with the group.

"I am very pleased to be able to announce the appointment of such a high-quality ANZ executive into this very important role," ANZ advice and distribution general manager Paul Barrett said.

"In his new role, he will be responsible for driving the growth of ANZ Financial Planning, ensuring the delivery of quality advice to our customers and enhancing our relationships with key stakeholders."

Symons, who has been with ANZ since 1999, has held a number of roles in small business and most recently within the business banking division as general manager of business banking for Western Australia and South Australia.

In his previous role, he was responsible for over 170 relationship managers, driving customer acquisition and customer retention strategies and holding key relationships with business customers.

Symons' appointment is one of a number Barrett will make as part of an internal restructure.

"Greg Hansen was announced as joining us from Colonial First State as well, so he will join us soon. I'm also working on two or three other roles, so I would expect there would be further appointments to my leadership team over the next several weeks," he said.
