Altius Asset Management has hired Vanessa Thomson as head of credit research.
Thomson joins the fund manager from ING Investment Management (INGIM) where she held the position of senior research analyst for income assets within the company's fixed income division.
She was also head of risk business strategy at ING.
Prior to her time with INGIM, she worked in the project and structured finance division within Macquarie Bank's London operations.
Commenting on Thomson's appointment, Altius senior portfolio manager Chris Dickman said: "Vanessa has a diverse range of sector experience both across investment and sub-investment grade levels, and tremendous quantitative skills, which will prove very useful to our investment activities.
"We had a very clear idea of how the credit research role will work within the business, and the skills and experience we required to complement the rest of the team, and Vanessa fits these criteria perfectly."
Altius formed last year as a joint venture between its principals and Australian Unity Investments and launched its first fund in July this year.
