FNZ Australia, a technology and administration provider to financial institutions in the platform and wealth management sectors, has appointed former Minister for Superannuation Nick Sherry as its new chairman.
There is a significant opportunity for FNZ in Australia to expand its current business, particularly in the area of self-managed investment options within an APRA-regulated superannuation fund, Sherry said.
"There is also a substantial opportunity outside superannuation and I look forward to chairing the Australian entity of a world leading financial services platform provider."
Late last month, Sherry also joined Ernst & Young as a senior adviser to its superannuation practice.
He will help to develop the firm's enhanced strategy focus on superannuation and pensions, both in Australia and internationally.
FNZ has also appointed Martin Jennings as its new chief executive for its Australasian operations.
Jennings is currently the managing director of the company's Australian and New Zealand operations
FNZ currently administers $40 billion in client assets.
Sherry's parliamentary career includes Chair of the Senate Committee on Superannuation, Minister for Superannuation and Minister for Superannuation and Corporate Law, becoming the first minister of an Australian government to have exclusive responsibility for superannuation.
