Helen Troup is currently head of life and health, Australia and New Zealand, at Swiss Re and will commence her new role at CommInsure on the 7 April 2014.
Ms Troup also held the role of chief executive of ING New Zealand, where she steered the company through difficult financial markets.
She has also performed a number of other senior roles at ING Australia, including executive director of Life Risk and head of risk insurance markets.
CBA wealth management division group executive Annabel Spring said she was delighted Ms Troup will be leading CommInsure and joining the wealth management leadership team.
“Her extensive experience is reflected not only in the successful businesses she has led but in her contribution to industry organisations across the financial services industry,” Ms Spring said.
“She has a proven track record in strategy, innovation, people leadership and operational excellence, and we are delighted to welcome her to CBA.”
