AMP Capital has increased its retail offering by extending the AMP Capital Dynamic Markets Fund, Australian Equity Income Fund and Income Generator to its retail investors.

The first two funds were previously only available to institutional investors while Income Generator could only be accessed through platforms.

The AMP Capital Dynamic Markets Fund is designed for investors concerned about market volatility and looking for a “cost-effective way to access active management”.

The fund uses a dynamic asset allocation approach to investment which, according to AMP Capital, means the fund reduces its allocation to asset classes or types of investments where it expects poor performance and increases its allocation to asset classes where it expects better performance.

AMP Capital said the Income Generator is aimed at pre-retirees and retirees and offers a regular and stable income with “lower volatility and medium to long-term capital growth”.

It generates a monthly income by actively managing a diversified range of income generating assets such as Australian and global equities and fixed income.

The AMP Capital Australian Equity Income Fund aims to give investors a higher, more consistent income steam but with less capital volatility than the broader equity market.

AMP Capital head of retail and corporate business Craig Keary said there is a gap in the market for investment products that meet the needs of retail investors.

“These investors have goals, such as steady income or capital growth, that are often linked to the lifestyle they want to lead and subsequently they want products that can provide them with more certain investment outcomes,” said Mr Keary.

“The AMP Capital Australian Equity Income Fund and Income Generator will appeal to investors who have income goals that aren’t being met by cash products in particular.”
