Henderson Global Investors has hired former First State Stewart portfolio manager Glen Finegan as the firm’s new head of emerging market equities.

Henderson said Mr Finegan – who will be based in London – will commence the role on 5 January 2015, replacing outgoing head of emerging market equities Chris Palmer.

Mr Finegan will be responsible for managing $1.67 billion in global emerging market equities franchise.

He was previously a senior portfolio manager at First State Stewart – formerly known as First State Investments and part of the Colonial First State Global Asset Management stable – where he managed US$3 billion as lead manager and was co-lead on $10 billion.
