The ATO’s superannuation leadership team has shrunk to eight members following the departure of assistant deputy commissioner Stuart Forsyth last week.

InvestorDaily sister title SMSF Adviser reported on Friday that Mr Forsyth had left the ATO to take up a board position at SMSF administration business SuperIQ.

SuperIQ chief executive Andrew Bloore confirmed Mr Forsyth joined the company’s board on Monday.

Furthermore, a spokesperson for the ATO told SMSF Adviser that the superannuation team would not be replacing Mr Forsyth “for the foreseeable future”.

The ATO’s superannuation team is led by deputy commissioner Alison Lendon, who is the overall manager of superannuation at the tax office.

Before the departure of Mr Forsyth, eight assistant deputy commissioners (including first assistant commissioner Philip Hind) reported to Ms Lendon.

The exit of Mr Forsyth, whose specific responsibilities were ‘compliance, strategy, risk and delivery’, means there are now eight people in the team, including Ms Lendon.

The ATO spokesperson said Mr Forsyth’s responsibilities would be distributed among the superannuation leadership team.

As well as his board position at SuperIQ, Mr Forsyth has joined Brisbane-based superannuation consultancy firm McPherson Super Consulting.
